During our stay, the hotel delivered warm service, comfortable accommodations, a substantial breakfast and a relaxing pool area. The property is not a destination resort, but it works very well for travelers who want a dependable full-service hotel in Fes after a day exploring the medina.

Our Experience at the Fes Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace

Our stay at the Fes Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace was very good. As we learned throughout our time in Morocco, the country’s hospitality is warm, professional and genuinely attentive. That spirit was evident from the moment we arrived.

The lobby is sprawling and well appointed. It is not especially luxurious, but it is polished, comfortable and welcoming. The guest rooms provide the dependable experience expected from Marriott, complemented by Moroccan touches in the décor that give the hotel an appropriate sense of place.

Overall, the property feels more like an upscale business hotel than a traditional vacation resort. That is not necessarily a criticism. It functions extremely well as a comfortable and reliable base for exploring Fes, especially after spending a long day navigating the fascinating intensity of the medina.

Dining, Pool and Hotel Amenities

The hotel has several restaurants and a large, comfortable lobby lounge. Its expansive swimming pool is one of the property’s strongest leisure features. We particularly enjoyed spending happy hour by the pool after returning from the medina, relaxing with a drink before getting ready for dinner.

Breakfast was included with our stay. The buffet offered a good variety and made it easy to enjoy a convenient meal before heading out to explore the city.

The Cigar Lounge at Fes Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace

For The Travelling Aficionado, the hotel offers something increasingly difficult to find: a dedicated, well-appointed cigar lounge with a full bar. The lounge is comfortable and inviting, creating the expectation of a legitimate premium-cigar experience.

Unfortunately, the humidor did not live up to that promise during our visit. It resembled the style of humidor commonly found at a Davidoff Appointed Merchant, but it was approximately 90 percent empty. The limited remaining inventory consisted primarily of Zino and Camacho cigars.

This was a significant missed opportunity. A properly stocked humidor with a thoughtful selection of premium cigars could transform the lounge into one of the most distinctive amenities at this hotel in Fes, and potentially one of the better cigar destinations in the city.

Fortunately, I travel with cigars selected specifically for each journey. Once again, bringing my own cigars proved to be the right decision.

Service and Hospitality

The strongest element of our stay was the staff. The reception team, concierge and other hotel employees were incredibly welcoming and attentive throughout our visit.

Their professionalism reflected the generosity and hospitality we consistently experienced across Morocco. The service elevated the stay and left us with a very positive impression of the hotel.

The presence of a dedicated cigar lounge is a meaningful advantage for cigar travelers. However, the severely understocked humidor prevents it from becoming the premium cigar experience it could and should be.
